From the East or North

(via Westport)

 

N5 to Westport - follow signs for Louisburgh

Follow R335 through Murrisk ( Clew Bay to the right, Croagh Patrick to the left)

miles (4km) after the church in Lecanvey, at the Kilsallagh junction, marked by a black on yellow diamond t-junction sign, there is a telephone box (on left, just before the left turn) take this turning and immediately right, towards Kilgeever, following the same direction as the road you just left. You will see the small hill, Kinknock, in front of you as you turn the corner.

After ½ mile (1km), (just past a yellow painted house on the left) a lane to the left leads up Kinknock towards the remains of Falduff Wood (clear felled in 2006). Turn left and travel another ½ mile (1km) along this lane. We are on the left hand side after the left bend half way up the hill.

The house name is Dhá Lochán (2 ponds)

Via Ballinrobe travel to Westport and follow the directions above.

Via Leenane on Killary Harbour, following the R335 through Doo Lough Pass to Louisburgh.

Cross the Bunowen River into Louisburgh and cross over the crossroads in the centre of the village and continue on the main road toward Westport.

Follow the R335, crossing the first cross roads marked “Old Head” to the left. A short distance further on you will come to another cross roads also marked “Old Head”. Turn right here and drive up the narrow lane to the end. You will see the small hill, Kinknock, ahead of you. Turn left at the t-junction and continue a short distance along the road passing a turning to the left. Just a few yards further on, there is a right turn towards Kinknock. Turn right here and continue ½ mile (1km) along this lane. We are on the left hand side after the left bend half way up the hill.

From Knock Airport take the N17 northwards towards Charlestown then follow the N5 to Westport and follow Westport directions above.
