Location

The detached holiday home is situated within a 5 acre elevated site, overlooking Clew Bay. A ten minute walk down quiet lanes takes you to Falduff Strand, the nearest beach.

The nearest bar is ~2km away near Old Head. The nearest shop and filling station is < 3 km away. 4 km to the west is the popular town of Louisburgh. The bustling, elegant town of Westport is less than 20km to the east. (One of Ireland's tidiest towns, winning accolades since 2001 and a Gold Medal Winner in 2004's prestigious Entente Florale Competition.)

Facilities

Accommodation for 1 or 2 persons

The open plan living room / kitchen has a dining area, comfortable seating and polished wood floor. There are spectacular views from both windows.

The modern kitchen is equipped with an electric fan oven, grill, hob, microwave, washing machine, refrigerator, iron and foldaway ironing board.

The living room has TV, DVD player and stereo CD / radio. A range of books, games, cd’s & dvd’s are available. In addition, our comprehensive “where to go” file has descriptions of many local attractions. All the local OS maps for the area are supplied for reference.

The bedroom has a double bed and an en-suite shower room which has underfloor heating.

Outside there is ample parking space. Stroll through the landscaped gardens or relax in one of the seating areas and appreciate the stunning views of Clew Bay and surrounding mountains.

Amenities & Activities

There is plenty of interest for both the active and less active visitor to Co. Mayo.

The area boasts some of the finest Blue Flag beaches in Europe plus hill walking, angling, golf, water sports, bird watching, horse riding, cycling, island trips & boating.

The motorist can enjoy scenic drives on the quiet roads and lanes, viewing peaceful lakes, majestic mountains & golden beaches.

Food & Drink

There are many fine pubs and restaurants in Louisburgh, Westport and the surrounding area. Many of the pubs feature live music.

Natural Environment

The Mayo mainland and the islands off the Atlantic coast support a rich variety of both plant and animal life.

There is a wide range of bird life adapted to each of the many different habitats, from oakwood through heath to shoreline.

Heritage & History

There are many sites of interest relating to the past.

The location is mid-way on the Clew Bay Archaeological Trail. Sites 10 & 11 are within easy walking distance.

From the living room you can see the Oratory on the top of Croagh Patrick, Ireland's "Holy Mountain" with associations to St. Patrick. The path to the summit starts in nearby Murrisk where there is a Visitors' Centre next to the car park.

Other places to visit include: Murrisk Abbey, Louisburgh Granuaille Centre, Westport Heritage Centre, Westport House, The Ceide Fields and The Museum of Irish Life near Castlebar.
